New Forest 10 – Race Report –

Georgia and Charlotte took on this beautiful race. See how they got on…

– Report by Georgia –

The New Forest 10 miler is a a beautifully scenic race on mixed terrain in the heart of the New Forest. It starts and finishes in New Park, Brockenhurst. All finishers receive the much loved themed horse brass memento medal.

It was a gloriously sunny, autumn day with mild conditions making for a perfectly enjoyable long-run.

The beautiful weather made for a stark contrast to last years conditions! As many Traccies will remember, the race was cancelled due to course flooding – however, the ever enthusiastic Roadrunners still completed the course. There was a token gesture to last year’s down pour, with an enormous puddle to wade through!

After completing the Brockenhurst Parkrun the day before, in similarly beautiful weather conditions, Charlotte and I were looking forward to another amble in the forest, enjoying the wonderful scenery. We paced the run as easy to enjoy the surroundings, which made for a beautifully enjoyable race.

The race was well supported, with helpful and enthusiastic marshals all along the course. We particularly enjoyed the saxophonist playing at around 6 miles!

This easy-paced race reminded me how lucky we are as runners to be able to race, how important it is to enjoy ourselves and to ensure we book a few races a year that we can really relax and enjoy. We would both recommend this race to anyone!

Thanks for the report Georgia and a lovely reminder that sometimes you just need to slow down a bit and enjoy the experience
