24 hr Endurance Track Race – 😳😳😳 – Read all about it….
See how one of our TRACies completed this incredible race….
Race Report by Andy Jones
The Gloucester Track 24hr Race is an endurance event where runners attempt to cover as much distance as possible within a 24hr period on a 400m track.
This was the 3rd time I’ve run this event and my 6th 24hr track race.
I like the stripped back nature of these runs. No mandatory kit, no navigation and an aid station every 400m. There’s a great sense of camaraderie amongst the competitors. Everyone helps and encourages one another to make it to the end. Also you get to spend track time with some really outstanding athletes.
My personal best for these events is 196km, which I set at Battersea last September. My target is 200k but that just seems to be slightly beyond my grasp, but I keep trying.
This event went well and with brilliant support from Sam I finished in 4th place, running 481 laps in the 24hr time period. A total distance of 192.5kms (119.6 miles) A tad short of my PB and that elusive 200k!
I was however fortunate enough to witness Matt Field break the British record with an absolutely insane run of 281kms (174.8 miles). Incredible running.
It is quite incredible how you achieved this. Well done Andy and thanks for the great race report.
