Betteshanger Park Cross Country report

Today  (14/1/24) we travelled to Betteshanger Park in Deal for the fifth instalment of this cross country season.

Compared to last week, weather conditions were positively dreamy! With little rain throughout the week and low temperatures, the ground underfoot was firm(er) and there were few puddles to navigate.

The course itself was a mix of gravel path and trail, with a few hills scattered about. In total, two laps make the race approximately 5 miles long. Due to narrow paths at the beginning of the route, there were a couple of bottleneck moments – at one stage, this meant runners were walking downhill… Not ideal! Once the race had progressed, however, the course became a bit more spacious. Caution had to be taken over some slippery bridges, but all in all, today’s race was a comparatively smooth and simple one after the messy madness of Minnis Bay!

With both a full male and female team, TRAC were well represented at Betteshanger. Kevin led the men’s team, tailed by Matt, Chris Brenchley, Phil, Chris Pascoe, Steve, Andy Jones, Pete and Tim. Brittany, Claire and Jo Kemp were the first female TRAC runners to cross the line, all within a couple of minutes of one another. They were closely followed by Jo Holl, Julie, Samantha, Nikki and Janet.
