Deal Dinosaur 10K

– Race Report by Spencer Hoult –

Deal dinosaur πŸ¦• 10k

9 club members turned out for this years 42nd Deal dinosaur πŸ¦• 10k race and it was nice to see Tim and Sorcha who haven’t raced for a while.

I was Adjudicating and the race all went well.

It was a warm one, but the weather was kind too as it clouded over and there was a drizzle 🌧️. Nearly perfect racing conditions.

There was a tough hill to contend with, then a down hill to the home stretch.

The last mile or so got hard as the sun β˜€οΈ came out again, but overall it was a really nice race and a great Thanet Roadrunners turn out.

Four of as headed off together and 3 of us got PB’s (Chris, Elizabeth and Robbie). Congratulations to them!

One of our own juniors ‘Olly’ also got a PB, came 4th overall and got the Under 21 trophy. Congratulations to him too.

Race Results:

4 – Olly Regan – 37:34 – 1st Under 21 (PB)

21 – Steve Suttle – 45:18 – 2nd V60

28 – Spencer Hoult – 46:11 Β

34 – Chris Brown – 46:52 (PB)

74 – Robbie Weatherley-Day – 52:30 (PB)

75 – Elizabeth Brown – 52:33 (PB)

173 – Tim Kerr – 1:07:30

179 – Sorcha Page – 1:08:14

212 – Gaynor Shelvey – 1:58:38

Well done everyone. Was a hot and humid day (as always for the Deal 10K). A great performance as always from Steve Suttle who tried to retain his V60 crown, but missed out by a few seconds.Β

Finally I think we could all learn a lot from Gaynor Shelvey, who has perfected the post race protein recovery meal!
