Mount Ephraim 10k – Race Report –

Race report by Chris Brown – See how Thanet Road Runners got on….

Mount Ephraim 10k – Race Report – 11/08/24
Four TRACies travelled to the Mount Ephraim 10k in bright sunshine.

Lainey Carter, Lidia Modezelewska, Olly Regan and Chris Brown all arrived in plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful venue.

Before the senior race both of my children Bethany Brown and Harvey Brown took part in the junior race, their first ever, and it was lovely to see them enjoying their running.

Registration was well organised, as we’ve all come to expect from a Nicework event and before long we were all lining up at start line with a total of 279 others.

Having not raced here before I hadn’t realised how undulating the course would be, providing a challenge for all of us in the heat. The only blessing being the periodic tree cover which provided well received respite from the baking sun.

All the TRACies prevailed however with Olly Regan only 1 minute 32 seconds behind the first-place finisher, Olly crossed the line in a quite incredible 39:33, 6th place overall.

Slightly further back, Chris Brown managed 30th place overall with a time of 47:03, Lidia Modzelewska was the first of the TRAC ladies home, 155th place overall with a time of 1:01:57 and Lainey Carter, 183rd overall with a time of 1:06:35.

Sadly, we were a man down today as Spencer Hoult couldn’t take part due to his poorly leg which was a shame!

This was a tough course in hot conditions, but I think Lainey’s Strava description summed it up perfectly “Hot, Hilly, Hard but weirdly fun”.

Well Done to all
