New competition for members – Park Run cup
I have been thinking of how to redesign the original idea for a “Park Run cup” since national Park Run started removing the competitive angle from local park runs and stressing that they are not a race. We think we now have a solution….
Park Run cup 2.0
All TRAC members can join in. All we are looking at is your Park Run % time improvement up to 30 September 2024 compared to your own current best time set prior to 1 April 2024 on the same course.
We will only be comparing and calculating your improved time on the same course. So, you can’t have a Park Run time at Margate and beat it at Pegwell and claim that for the cup. You can, however, have a Margate best time and improve that at Margate and also have a Pegwell best time and improve that at Pegwell. Your current “best time” needs to have been set before 1st April this year.
This is all you need to do:
- Run as many park runs as you want between now and 30 September. Your fastest time will be compared to your “pre April 1st best times” on the same course.
- At any time between now and 30 September email me at runcaptains@thanetroadrunnersac.com and tell me you want to take part and tell me which course(s) you want to be counted. People will get reminders between now and then, don’t worry.
- After 30 September I will have a list of people who want to take part and I will calculate the % improvements for each runner. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (across both genders – there won’t be separate male/female awards)
So, it’s not the fastest runners who will necessarily win. It’s those who can show the biggest improvement in times on the same course between now and 30 September. We would particularly like to see many of our new members taking part.
What are you waiting for ? Let’s go Park Running.
Any questions, email me using the “run captains” email address above.
