Sittingbourne 10 miler – race report
Well done to all who completed the Sittingbourne 10 Mile today. The first time the race has been run on this route, we can certify that it is a tough, hilly course!
Weather conditions were in our favour today with a good amount of cloud coverage reducing the heat. The conditions on the road, however, were not so favourable: a couple of our runners encountered a tractor that blocked a road, bringing their race to a standstill for a minute or two, whilst it reversed back up the track. Not ideal!
Nonetheless, the course was incredibly well signposted and manned by an impressive number of marshalls. A huge thank you to them for giving us plenty of much needed encouragement as we made our way up and down and up and down and up again… And an even bigger thank you to Sittingbourne Striders who provided racers with masses of cake for us to refuel on after.
In spite of the steep hills, there were some brilliant performances from the TRAC team.
The men’s team were led home by Jack Bradley and the ladies team by Brittany Crombie who was in her element in the hilly countryside!

What a way to round off this year’s KCAA!
We will have to wait for the results to be updated to see if the ladies team’s impressive scoring today was enough to hold our 2nd place in the Kent Grand Prix standings! And to also see the final individual and age group achievements by several TRAC runners. Well done and thank you to all who have supported and contributed to the team throughout the course of this years road race season.
We will update the TRAC Club Championships table in due course.
Next up is the last Club Championship races of the year on November 19th with the double header of the Coastbuster 10k / Or the Oxleas Woods, Eltham Cross Country fixture.
The two races will be scored independently.
Big thanks to Brittany Crombie and Jo Kemp for the race report.
