TRAC – Runner of the month – August –

August runner of the month – Liz Brown

We are happy to share our August runner of the month – Liz Brown, who has been doing incredibly well after coming back to the club after an injury. Since then she has hit the ground running. She has been regularly attending many of the different TRAC club runs, most recently conquering the Wednesday night hills session. Liz has been achieving and breaking her own PB’s at many different distances including the 10 mile on Sunday morning TRAC runs. She has entered several races over the summer, and had some brilliant results,  representing the club at the Deal Dinosaur 10k, Harbour Wallbanger beach race, Fen Gallop 10k, Sandwich 10k and Island run 10k. The run leaders at TRAC all agree her running has come on in leaps and bounds, and has shown great improvements over a short period of time. She really enjoys her running, is very determined and is a fantastic asset to our club.

We asked Liz a few questions:

1. What attracted you to join TRAC?

Having never run before, like many others during lockdown I decided to start running to get me out of the house. Starting I thought it wasn’t for me and vowed never to do anything more than a 5K. However having a husband who also loves running , I began to really start to enjoy it and soon started increasing my distance. The next logical step was to join a club so we could share our passion with other like-minded people and that’s when I found TRAC.

2. Whats your best moment?

I think my best moment so far was my first Sunday long run with the club. I was apprehensive about the distance as I’d never ran that far before, however with the support and company along the way, managed to smash out my first 10 miler.

3. What would you say to a new person who is considering joining?

Don’t even hesitate, when I hear people saying “oh I could never run “my reply is always, “yes you can”. TRAC is for everybody, an inclusive club where the motto is always no runner left behind. There is always a place for runners of all abilities.

4. What does the club mean to you?

Encouragement, support, friendship and aspiration. Looking at what people in the club are achieving makes you aspire to reach your own goals.

Well done Liz – Well deserved !!
