TRAC – Runner of the Month – October
October – Robbie Weatherley-Day
Robbie has made incredible progress after joining TRAC via the C25K programme. During his relatively short time so far with the club, he has run many different races in the TRAC vest, going from strength to strength. Recently he completed the Great North run in a time of 1.38. Robbie is a very popular member of the club who always supports others. He is full of energy and a great team player, committing to join the cross-country team, despite admitting he doesn’t like to get muddy! Robbie is an inspiration for our next C25K group.
1. What attracted you to join TRAC?
My PT at the time Dan Grech, a fellow TRAC runner recommended I take up running, I always did as I was told and for once he was right, the best decision I ever made.
Even joining on that cold winters night in January with the fellow C25K group shivering in that bracing wind couldn’t put me off. From the first step I knew I was going to love it.
2. Whats your best moment?
So difficult to choose, meeting so many amazing and inspiring people, doing my first ever half marathon in 1:38 or a sub 20 minute park run. I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved in such a short time, credit goes to the support from TRAC family.
3. What would you say to a new person who is considering joining?
What are you waiting for. This is the most inclusive, friendly club. I never dreamt I’d be a runner but the support and encouragement from day 1 from everyone is what made it that more special. If you have any doubts, don’t. Take the plunge and come join us.
4. What does the club mean to you?
The club is everything to me, the people, some of which are very special and now lifelong friends.
We are there to support, encourage, improve, motivate, inspire, learn, race, compete, discover and most importantly laugh (Sunday breakfast and coffee is a must after a long club run). This is a club for everyone and we are all valued members.
