Two Traccies cycle India and raise funds for Women v Cancer Charity
Earlier this month past ladies captain Nikki Boyes and fellow Traccie Helen Mather, plus two good friends set off to complete the ‘Women v Cancer Ride India Cycle Challenge’.
Nikki shares details of their amazing trip…
We were all nervous and excited at the same time as we thought about the fact that we were about to cycle 360kms across Rajasthan in Northern India. What were we thinking!
After a long journey and a day exploring the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort we were fitted with our bikes (huge heavy mountain bikes 😳) and we were off! Immediately we were immersed into all that India had to offer!
The noise was something I just hadn’t expected. It also soon became clear why we all had mountain bikes. Thank goodness for the suspension! After 5 amazing but challenging days our group of 55 women reached Jaipur. There were tears all round -of relief, pride and sadness that it was over.
The next day was spent in Jaipur enjoying the atmosphere and the madness of the city at the time of Diwali. More tears (and dancing!) were to come at the celebration dinner when the current fundraising total was announced as over £110,000 for breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer charities.
So many of us have our lives affected by cancer – we had an amazing time but even better knowing that we raised money along the way.
If you would like to donate the 4 of us have a just giving page.

Traccies are made of tough stuff. Well done Nikki and Helen for completing this arduous challenge, in Nikki’s case just days after running the New York virtual marathon!
Not JUST a running club. A group of life long friends!
