The Men’s

9 Men’s teams with a total of 32 runners. One of the largest I’ve known with all but two runners competing in their correct age groups. Thanks Oliver Northrop and Adrian Smith for helping younger teams compete and Spencer Hoult for being a called upon reserve.

Seniors -A team 5th place – With one of the fastest times ever for TRAC in this highly competitive league where seconds divided the teams. Thanks all 4 of you for this effort.

Senior B – 3rd place in the B league and holding onto 3rd in the league due to a good performance by the team including Richard Purton to bring the baton home.

Senior C – 7th overall in our no-scoring team but beating many teams and some great times were noted to compete for places in two weeks’ time. Tim Greenaway had a new relay experience.

Vet 40 – 3rd place moving the team up the league to 3rd as well. 11 seconds between us and the top place this time. Some careful planning is required to get the race pace consistent. Speed here was thanks to Andy Stevens clocking a 13:03 staking a claim to the senior team’s pace.

Vet 40 B – 2nd place on the night where other clubs struggled to make a team, we can take a point here. Performances by Paul Brackenborough 14:55 will stake a claim for the 40 Ateam, well done Paul.

Vet 50 A – 4th place and 4 points. Seconds divide these teams, so we are only 1 point away from third in the league. Well done Phil Stevens with a 14:18 on his old stomping ground.

Vet 50 B – 4th place and a point for the league. Great to see the new runners starting on the start line to get the full experience of the race.

Vet 60 – 3rd place on the night but holding onto 1st in the league. It seems the competition has woken up. The team is going to have to work hard tactically to keep the lead.

Vet 60 – B 2nd place and 2nd in the league. Glyn with an 18:06 bringing home the baton.

For me my runner of the day was Maxwell Hubbard for assisting me in the busy lead up, juggling runners into teams and on the day being a great assistant. Max ran in the Senior C team enabling Andrew Richardson to get a respectable relay time of 14:21 and Tim Greenaway a new relay benchmark time.

Thankyou Maryanne and marshals for doing a great job and Derek for the medical back up.

Finally -congratulations to Andrew and Abi on their engagement. What better way to celebrate than running a relay! 💍

Nicola Boyes, Ladies captain and Chris Brenchley, men’s captain. 💪
