The Island Run

A number of TRACies made the short trip to the Isle of Sheppey today for The Island Run hosted by Sporting Events UK, who directed yet another successful event complying with the Covid guidelines we are all becoming accustomed to.

Today’s event consisted of a 5km and 10km race, both of headed out together in waves, along the seafront, with the 5km runners taking an earlier turn back towards the finish. The coastal setting made for some unsettling wind as it swirled in just about every direction, but this didn’t stop our TRACies bringing home some great performances.

In the 10km race, Spencer Hoult led the club home with an impressive 43.30 placing him 34th. Michael Philpot was next home in a time of 46.05, closely followed by Simon Cowdery in 46.56. They placed 46th and 59th respectively. Simon Burton completed the TRAC team in a time of 52.37 making a strong return to racing. He placed 93rd on this occasion. Altogether there were 268 finishers. In the 5km race, Jacob Burton came home in a time of 18.33, placing him 2nd overall.

Well done to everyone who competed.
