Chislehurst Half Marathon 21 May 2023
The Chislehurst Half Marathon was a Club Championship and KCAA event, well supported with 14 Thanet Roadrunners taking part, and 341 finishers. This was a half trail, half road event along Foxbury Manor Woods and Scadbury Park. We were a little unsure of what lay ahead on the course, with much discussion beforehand on what type of shoes we should wear.
However, the good recent weather and forecast sunshine on the day meant most participants went with roadshoes as we were not expecting too much wet mud on the course.
There was a lot of changing scenery and underfoot terrain to negotiate as we came on and off the roads and in and out of footpaths, grass and woodlands. Some sections were rather narrow through the bushes!
The course was described as undulating but I think hilly would be much more apt! And there seemed to be far more uphill than downhill! Even the road sections were tough!
Congratulations to Chris Brenchly, first Male TRAC finishing in 23rd place with a chip time of 1:30:03. And to Brittany Crombie, first TRAC lady home not far behind in 64th place overall (9th Lady) with a chip time of 1:40:53. And to Jo Holl who achieved first place in the V55 age category, 113th place overall and a chip time of 1:48:36.
A mention also to the Ladies team which achieved 3rd place in the team standings. Also silver medals were awarded for the 6-20th places and our ladies team picked up 4!
