Meet your Club Captains Andy and Jo
Your two Club Captains were elected at the Annual General Meeting.
Andy Stevens has stepped up to be our Men’s Team Captain.
Andy is a club stalwart, with impressive times across the board, from parkruns to marathons. In 2013 he was completing parkruns in times well into the mid-20’s, but by 2023 (and 10 years older – sorry Andy) his parkrun PB has dropped to a very impressive 16.04.
Andy’s son Jake has been through our Junior section and now progressed to national level competitions. They’re a competitive family.
Andy is an experienced run leader and is really encouraging of others, although we suspect that if he was a stick of rock and you cut him in half, the writing would say ‘competitive athlete’ in very bold print!
Jo Kemp started running to support her daughter, who fell in love with running through the primary schools cross county competition. She found Thanet Roadrunners Juniors Section really brought on her running and when she was invited to the club track sessions at the Royal Harbour Academy Jo watched the seniors training alongside the juniors and felt inspired. Jo said “I met so many encouraging and supportive people and my training went from strength to strength.”
Becoming a member of the inter-club road relays and cross county team really brought out the best in Jo’s running. She thrived on team competitions and says she simply loves the comradery being part of ‘Team TRAC’ brings.
Jo hasn’t yet completed a marathon but but her parkrun times have been tumbling recently and her PB stands at 20.40.
Jo is a really supportive person and we have no doubt will get the very best out of the ladies team.
Brittany Crombie has enthusiastically stepped up as Jo’s vice captain and will support Jo and Andy with cross country in particular.
Your Captains have some exciting plans and will of course be supported by Chris and Nikky, who did such a great job for several years.
Exciting times ahead!
