Gusbourne 10K Race Report and Results

We often hear time and time again that hydration is the key. Well, two of our TRACies took this to the next level by plucking up some Dutch courage to take on the first ever Gusbourne 10K which also incorporated wine tasting along the course! Spencer Hoult and Paul Brackenborough were the ideal candidates for this race with plenty of training miles and pints under their belts.

This brand new and unique event took place in the picturesque surroundings of the Gusbourne Vineyards in Ashford and gave runners the option to complete the 5K or 10K route around the estate. The challenging route comprised of an off-road terrain that weaved in and out of the vineyards with a couple of inclines to keep things interesting. However, the scenic views on a sun drenched day should have more than made up for this.

A total of 246 runners competed across both distances with a glass of wine and a bespoke medal waiting for everyone at the finish line.

Both of our runners took full advantage of the award winning English sparkling wine on offer with Paul finishing in an impressive 8th position overall in 47:21. Spencer, also in an adjudicating position for the event, finished just a short distance behind in 11th position and with a time of 48:04. Although it is unclear if the wine tasting had a positive or negative impact on their race, both runners had a great time and will be back for another round next year. Cheers boys!
