Sevenoaks 7 Race Report & Results

This weekend was the Sevenoaks 7 (Race 7 of the Kent Championships) and therefore only right that we sent 7 of our TRACies to take it on. Turnout was perhaps a little limited due to the challenging commute due to roadworks making all usual routes difficult.

The race itself, hosted by Sevenoaks Athletic Club, is situated in the impressive grounds of Knole Park. After an incline at the start this 7 mile course consists of two laps around undulating, uneven tracks and grassy paths which made it difficult for many of our runners to really get into their stride. However there is generous downhill at the climax to help ensure a sprint finish.

To make things a little more interesting is the fair amount of free roaming deer and the chance of stray golf balls from from the close proximity of a golf course which meant our runners needed to remain focused at all times.

The race was incredibly well organised and marshalled with some great local support. There was a total of 379 finishers with the race won by Billy Hobbs of Tunbridge Wells Harriers in a time of 38:14. Cas Jackson from Dartford Harriers AC was the first female to finish in a time of 46:57.

For our own Magnificent Seven it was Christopher Brenchley who was the first Thanet Roadrunner to finish in a time of 44:16 but not before an epic battle with fellow runner Andy Stevens. Well done to both runners who had just ten seconds separating them finishing in 19th and 20th overall respectively. Nikki Boyes was flying the flag for the ladies and finished in a time of 1:01:04.

The Clubs results were as follows:

Christopher Brenchley – 44:16

Andy Stevens – 44:26

John Dickerson – 52:10

Max Hubbard – 55:17

Spencer Hoult – 58:43

Nikki Boyes – 1:01:04

Mark Hadden – 1:01:59
